Powerful drama based on Malcolm Lowry's novel, set in
Mexico in the late 1930's. Jacqueline plays
Yvonne Firmin, the estranged wife of Geoffrey Firmin (Albert Finney),
the alcoholic Britsh Consul in a small Mexican town. Much of the
action takes place during the "Day of the Dead" Festival.
Jacqueline was nominated for a Golden Globe as Best Supporting Actress (see also: "Who is Killing the Great Chefs of Europe?"). Albert Finney was nominated for both a Golden Globe and an Oscar. He had previously worked with Jacqueline in "Two for the Road" and "Murder on the Orient Express".
